The Chinese Embassy in the U.S. hosted an open day event on May 3, featuring a science and technology exhibition that shone a light on the successful outcomes of China-U.S. sci-tech cooperation — with mutual benefits for both nations being a highlight. The exhibition attracted many American visitors and received widespread praise.

A range of interactive exhibits were showcased, including posters, model displays, video screenings and virtual reality (VR) experiences. These explained bilateral cooperation in areas such as agriculture, energy, health, physics and more. It emphasized China's vision for international scientific collaboration — advocating open, fair, just, and non-discriminatory partnerships — and reiterated the principle that, "Science knows no borders and benefits all of humanity."

Exhibition panels detailed how China-U.S. cooperation addresses global challenges, spotlighting projects like the hybrid rice initiative, the China-U.S. Clean Energy Research Center, and the China-U.S. high-energy physics collaboration.

Visitors were particularly captivated by models of China's cutting-edge scientific facilities, including the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope, the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST), the High Energy Photon Source (HEPS), and the Tiangong Space Station. Many queued up to use VR equipment for immersive, firsthand experiences of these facilities.

In addition, English videos were shown to introduce China's sci-tech achievements and open cooperation policies, China's Top 10 major sci-tech advances in 2024, as well as key facilities like FAST and EAST. These helped visitors better understand China's innovation-driven development.

Souvenir cards featuring traditional Chinese designs of major sci-tech installations were given out as gifts and were very popular with visitors. Embassy staff also interacted with attendees on-site, explaining details about China-U.S. science and technology cooperation projects and major research facilities.

Many American visitors said they hope to have more opportunities in the future to learn about China's scientific and technological developments. This exhibition is expected to inject new momentum into the implementation of the sci-tech related agreement between the two countries, and promote deeper exchanges and cooperation in the field.
